My first lightning bolt!!

I am TERRIFIED of lightning....because of that i have never taken a picture of it ( never the same thru a window) but i finally gathered up my courage (15 min worth) and went outside! It paid off! Here are my first lightning shots!

Long Island Scottish festival 2010

Yesterday was the Scottish Games at Old Westbury Gardens. I honestly expected alot more "games" and dancing and stuff. but it was still a nice day out. Lots of places to buy food and merchandise. The bagpipes played throughout the day. Over all it was a nice day out. I honestly don't feel it was worth the $15 to get in...but I got alot of great photos and it was just another Long Island experience to add to my list!

Why I do what I do.......(plus photo of the day)

Why do I do this you ask?? Because I have always loved photography , always loved taking pictures! I am not in this just to make a buck.( tho having something to bring in a little extra cash is always good) I do this to share my passion and my talent with the world! I love being able to be the one catching all the little moments people miss during a big event...from kids playing to maybe a favor sitting on the table in just the right spot, to people sharing a laugh. With my nature photography I learn more and more every time i go out. I love taking nature pics because i love nature! I love being outdoors ( no matter how many pesky bugs bite my ankles LOL)
Now I am not the best photographer out there... Not by a long shot I am not a "professional" either. I have had no formal training, everything  I do I have learned on my own and by trial and error! I am amateur photgrapher , I am very proud of the work  I do and i think i am very good at WHAT I do. I am grateful for all of those who have told me how much you love my work! I don't pretend to be someone or something that I'm not. I am the same person wether I am dealing with you on a personal level or professional level. Hopefully being honest and true to myself as well as to others will pay off in the end!

Any way you want it.......a Journey tribute band!

I had the honor and privilege of both watching and photographing this awesome new Journey tribute band last night! These 5 guys are awesome!! The vocals are solid and the musicians that make up the band are incredible! The vibe and passion these guys gave off to the audience was terrific! I have never seen a cover band I enjoyed so much!! When they announced that they were playing their final song of the night, the crowd started to chant "2 MORE , 2MORE!" That showed me that I wasn't the only one that enjoyed them that much!  I will post about future shows when they are announced so you all can check them out as well!! Seriously even if you are not a fan of Journey...these guys will make you a fan!! Enjoy!

Gardner's Park Montauk Highway West Islip (DOG FRIENDLY!)

We take our Golden Retriever Bailey here all the time! Its a nice scenic walk! you can either take the main trail witch connects to other wooded trails or take the main trail all the way up to the bay where you get a nice view of the robert Moses bridge and Fire Island light house. Note: WEAR YOUR BUG SPRAY! this place gets buggy at times! Nice place to see and hear ( mostly hear) lots of different birds. Dogs are allowed on leash only! There are also doggie poop bags and garbage cans provided along the main trail! There is also a small pond where people can fish!  lots of parking too!

Saturday hike!

This weekend we took a little hike at Islip Meadows County Nature Preserve (Bayview ave East Islip)
I was hoping to see lots of birds but not too much activity yesterday! We did however see some deer and the first wild snake i have ever seen in my life!!
So i give this park a B+ very easy to walk thru along boardwalks. WEAR BUG SPRAY!!! Nice park but if you are looking to take pictures of anything other than dragonflies and deer...not really worth it.

Took a spur of the moment trip and am so happy with the results!! Out of 466 pictures...I only deleted 50!! Thats a new record for me! usually I wanna get rid of more than half! lol

Fun filled weekend has come to an end...

Well Sundays are the worst aren't they?? LOL! Like all thing my wonderful weekend must come to an end. I started off the weekend by traveling to Monatuk ( the very tip of long island) With one of my dearest friends Dawn ( check out dmg_art.com) after getting caught in traffic for 2 hours we arrived at our destination, where we took tons of pictures relaxed and took in the beautiful views....




After Montauk we headed into Sag Harbor to check out the village and get some grub! Dinner was AMAZING! We found a little seafood shack and enjoyed our dinner on the water.
( you always find the best food in these little places!!)



Saturday the hubby & I spent the day out with the dog ( she gets a day at the dog park each weekend as well!) Then after dinner we went out to Robert Moses State Park and sat on the beach and watched a beautiful sun set together! <3>

Last but not least Sunday...Hubby an I spent the day at Sunken Meadow State Park. I had never been there before and can not wait to go back! Today we just hung at the beach because it was so hot out! Next time hopefully we can walk the Hiking Trails!





So there was my awesome 3 day weekend in word and photos! Now i have to get ready to start a new work week boohoo!! Stay tuned..........
